Projects We Support
When you make a donation to Carbonfund.org, your money will go to support projects that reduce emissions elsewhere. In the checkout process, you can choose what offset type you would like your donation to support.
Reforestation/Avoided Deforestation –Trees and soil sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere naturally. These projects help conserve land, promote biodiversity, and improve the local environment. Reforestation projects are the only projects that physically remove carbon from the atmosphere. These types of projects typically have a variety of co-benefits to the local ecosystem and economy.
Energy Efficiency – Reducing energy use while providing the same or more services is essential to fighting global warming. These projects, such as truck stop electrification or industrial energy efficiency improvements directly translate into CO2 emissions reductions that also improve air quality.
Renewable Energy – Offsetting with renewable energy, such as wind and landfill methane projects, supports our country’s transition to a clean energy, low carbon future. Renewable energy production eliminates the need to produce energy from dirty, fossil fuel sources. Consequently, renewable energy projects help improve air quality and reduce emissions of other harmful substances like mercury.
