Our Team
Carbonfund.org is much more than our small, dedicated staff. Carbonfund.org is able to have the impact it has because of our thousands of supporters, business and nonprofit partners and the vast network of volunteers who share a common goal of reducing the threat of climate change and reducing our impact on our environment.
Eric Carlson
Executive Director

Eric is a founder, with his wife Lesley, and Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. Eric has more than fifteen years experience promoting cost-effective solutions to climate change, with an extensive background in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Prior to Carbonfund.org, Eric managed voluntary partnerships at the US EPA’s Energy Star Homes and Buildings programs. There he advised companies such as Gillette, IBM and Johnson & Johnson. Eric also spent six years managing programs for the Alliance to Save Energy in Central and Eastern Europe. He advised ministers of energy and environment on energy policy and climate change, testified before parliaments, advised the World Bank and IFC on major energy efficiency investments and trained municipal leaders. Eric and Lesley founded Carbonfund.org to make it easy and affordable for any individual or business to reduce their climate impact while hastening our transition to a low-carbon future. Lesley and Eric have two beautiful young daughters and want to pass on to them a cleaner world.
Lesley Carlson
Director of Human Resources

Lesley is also a founder of Carbonfund.org with her husband, Eric. Lesley’s background includes several senior positions in nonprofit organizations, including serving as the director of operations and finance chief for the National Democratic Institute’s Serbia office, a $2 million a year operation with 25 staff. Lesley also managed regional democracy programs for Freedomhouse in Hungary, including the effort to overthrow Slobodan Milosevic. Lesley and Eric both witnessed firsthand the environmental and human destruction caused by war, dictators and failed economic policies. Lesley is also the co-founder of another nonprofit, the Refugee Assistance Program, in Debrecen, Hungary. Prior to this, Lesley spent nine years with the State Department managing cultural, environmental and political exchange programs. In her spare time, Lesley sometimes gets very close to bears. Michael Stewart
Partnerships Manager

With over 14 years of communication, marketing and branding experience, Michael works closely with our partners to develop, implement and communicate their carbon offset strategies. Michael has worked with major brands such as Microsoft, as well as smaller companies in the outdoor sporting goods market. Michael came to Carbonfund.org as a satisfied customer – having first used the organization’s offset services while working at a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable business models. Taken with Carbonfund.org’s overall mission of directly advocating for solutions to the all encompassing and urgent issue of global warming, Michael soon found a way to come aboard to help make a difference. And although the summer fog can require wearing a down vest in August, he is very happy to have launched our new office in San Francisco; where in his free time he is happy to ride his bike to find great surfing and a neighborhood cup of shade grown, bird friendly, co-op farmed, organically produced, perfectly roasted, ordinary drip brewed coffee. He can be reached at .

Before coming to Carbonfund.org, Paul was the Northern Virginia Coordinator with the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, where he helped tarnish the image of Virginia’s deeply ingrained fossil fuel special interests and the politicians that blindly supported them. He also helped to grow the volunteer base and empower citizen activists to fight climate change where they live. Kory Kramer
Senior Climate Change Specialist

Originally from Michigan, Kory Kramer is a graduate of Kalamazoo College with a BA in Biology and concentration in Environmental Studies. During college, he spent six months in an environmental studies program based in Quito, Ecuador, and did his senior individualized project in Cañas, Costa Rica, conducting a per capita productivity study on a neotropical social wasp species. After college, Kory joined the Peace Corps and moved to Huari, Bolivia where he worked as an environmental educator. After a third year in Bolivia as a volunteer coordinator, he went to work as a downhill mountain bike guide, leading trips down The World’s Most Dangerous Road. Longing to explore more of South America, he spent the offseason with two friends pedaling 2,000 miles on a self-supported tour through Patagonia, starting in Ushuaia, Argentina and finishing in Santiago, Chile. When Kory returned to La Paz, Bolivia, he became Operations Manager of the mountain bike tour company and later started his own small business: Ozone oxygen bar, an absurdly logical venture as the world’s highest oxygen bar at nearly 13,000 feet above sea level. The search for work that complements his personal values led Kory to Washington, DC where he now resides with his beautiful wife, Saima. He enjoys riding his bike to work, traveling, photography, reading, cooking, doing yoga, laughing and saving the world!
