Senior Business Development Specialist

The Senior Business Development Specialist will be an integral part of the partnership team, working primarily with large and medium-sized businesses and organizations to advance the use of carbon-free accounting for wide range of products, events, services, and transportation practices. You will help persuade sustainability officers to adopt carbon reduction strategies, including carbon-free product certification, carbon offsets, and customer check-offs.

Tasks will include extensive phone calling, message development, writing proposals and marketing materials, networking, in-person solicitations, promotional launches, representing Carbonfund.org at events and meetings, systematic stewardship and creative engagement of partners. You will be expected to calculate carbon footprints, using simple-to-understand tools, and to provide other support in building relationships with current and prospective partners.

The position requires a professional, dynamic personality who can meet deadlines and be results oriented. An entrepreneurial attitude, business acumen, and comfort working in a fast paced environment are essential. You will be expected to support and contribute to various organizational needs as they arise.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in business development, marketing, sales, or development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business or Communications
  • Knowledge or ability to quickly learn climate change issues
  • Knowledge of the energy and/or climate sector
  • Excellent organizational, writing and editing skills
  • Excellent public speaking and phone communication skills
  • Experience running or leading campaigns or initiatives a plus
  • MS Office req., Excel, Word; Experience with using databases a plus
  • A passion for the environment and solving our climate crisis

Senior Climate Change Manager

The Senior Climate Change Manager (SCCM) will be an integral part of the partnership team. The incumbent works closely with the Partnerships Director and is expected to coordinate and mentor other members of the team. On occasion you will be expected to stand in for the Partnerships Director.

Your primary responsibility will be to maximize carbon reductions through a combination of managing and building upon existing partnerships and creating new ones. In addition, you are also expected to identify new opportunities for the organization to meet its mission of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This includes engaging businesses and organizations to identify and promote their strategic interest in mitigating climate change, writing and editing proposals, writing and reviewing program agreements, developing marketing materials, writing blog entries, oversee partner launches, and more. Further you will be expected to calculate carbon footprints, develop messaging points and materials, conduct partner research and work with the team to support our relationships with current and prospective partners.

The position requires a team approach to solving problems and accomplishing tasks. You must be able to meet deadlines and be results oriented. An entrepreneurial attitude and comfort working in a fast paced environment are essential. You will be expected to support and contribute to the overall organization as they arise.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in the nonprofit, government, business, fundraising or environmental fields
  • Experience in building and nurturing relationships with external partners and collaborators
  • Experience and Knowledge in the energy and/or climate sector
  • Fluency in climate change issues
  • Excellent organizational, writing and editing skills
  • Excellent public speaking, and phone communication skills
  • Experience running or leading campaigns or initiatives a plus
  • MS Office req., Excel, Word

Program Assistant

The Program Assistant will provide support to the President in the areas of program, policy and administration. Notable candidates for this position will have a background in climate change with strong research and administrative skills.

Responsiblities

  • Tracks climate legislation.
  • Researches climate change policy and issues and notes program opportunities for the President.
  • Keeps daily news watch on climate change, the carbon market, green energy, and environmental initiatives.
  • Provides liaison and support to the Board of Directors and board committees: arranges board meetings and conference calls, prepares and distributes meeting materials, organizes and maintains board-related files and mailing lists, and provides other assistance as needed.
  • Schedules meetings and appointments, using good judgment in time management and prioritizing.
  • Maintains calendars and provides timely reminders of due dates and priority tasks for the President and other senior staff as requested.
  • Makes travel arrangements, obtains visas, and prepares travel itineraries and materials for the President and senior staff as requested.
  • Assists President with task follow-up and consistent internal communications.
  • Organizes and maintains accessible files for projects and issues relating to responsibilities.
  • Gathers and organizes information for reports, memos and speeches.
  • Assists with other projects related to program management.
  • Answers the phones, distributes mail, runs errands, as needed.
  • Provides other support and takes initiative to increase effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Public Policy, or related field
  • Knowledge of climate change issues
  • Excellent organizational, writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle responsibilities and exercise independent judgment
  • Excellent phone communication skills
  • MS Office req., Excel, Word
  • Experience with using databases and/or Salesforce a plus
