Sweating the Details With loll Designs

Minnesota-based loll Designs knows that when it comes to furniture, it’s the details that count.

And even though climate change is hardly a detail, loll is doing its part to when it comes to reducing what it can, offsetting what it can’t.

The furniture designers, whose pieces have appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, know that designing good furniture means paying attention to the little things. That means hiding stainless-steel fasteners, or making silhouette adjustments so that the pieces are visually cleaner and more modern. It also means an array options for their Adirondack chairs such as standard or tall heights and a choice of backrest types. It means new colors such as leaf and sky in addition to the already-available black, white, chocolate, and apple.

Detail takes time, but loll Designs doesn’t lollygag when it comes to preventing climate change. As part of its Plant a Tree program, loll Designs will plant a tree in its home state of Minnesota for every order received. loll is also a member of 1% for the Planet, and, of course, has been a member of Carbonfund.org’s CarbonFree Shipping program for a year.

“We decided to offset because the reality of our business requires us to ship our products. There’s really no way around it,” said Sales Manager and lollygagger Nate Heydt. “At the same time we were applying to become a member of the Coop America Business Network. They actually suggested Carbonfund.org and we figured that was a pretty good endorsement.”
