USGBC - Chicago Chapter
Description
The mission of the Chicago Chapter of the US Green Building Council is to lead the regional transformation of the built environment to ecologically sustainable, profitable, healthy places through education. The Chicago Chapter, founded in 2002, is a membership based organization that offers education through workshops, programs, outreach, and networking. At the crossroads between the private sector and the policy makers, the US Green Building Council holds a unique place in the building industry – the place where all sectors of the green building industry come together to effect positive change in the built environment. Quote
Members of the Chicago Chapter care deeply about the environment. These are the people most motivated to take action to make positive change, and Carbonfund.org offers a way to effect positive change by offsetting each member’s personal greenhouse gas emissions in a single transaction. We are all about education and believe that our members, once they know they can offset their carbon footprint today will seek to do so. In the building industry, every process is an evolution. Every code change, every new ordinance. First there is discussion, then there is debate and finally, there is some semblance of action. Here is a way to move forward today while we discuss how we are going to put into place policies, codes and practices that result in the long term reduction of carbon emissions.
