Mitigating Carbon Impact as Part of “Green Vision”

AUSTIN, TX – March 25, 2008 – MDS Advertising today announced that it is offsetting its carbon emissions with, the country’s leading non-profit carbon offset organization. By joining’s CarbonFree® Partner program, MDS Advertising has joined a national movement of businesses and organizations that are leading the fight against global warming.

MDS Advertising emissions offset contributions will support reforestation projects in the U.S. and abroad to reduce CO2 pollution and help hasten our transition to a clean energy future.

MDS Advertising embraces their “inner green,” both in the way they inhabit their creative studio and the way they work for their clients. From the structure of the building to purchasing 100% renewable energy, MDS seeks to make Austin—and the world around them—just a little bit greener.

The MDS building has energy-efficient air conditioning units, low-water toilets, a solar water heater and xeriscaping. They were one of the first businesses to adopt GreenChoice® back in 2004, a 100% renewable energy program from Austin Energy, a local electrical company. MDS offsets their carbon footprint for all air travel and each employee’s commute to and from work and participates in a local recycling program. In addition to traditional printing services, MDS offers a Green Printing program that uses special papers, inks and printing techniques that are better for the environment without reducing the quality of the printed piece.

Genesis Forest Enables Automaker to Offer Carbon Offsets and More

[Silver Spring, MD – November 19, 2008], the nation’s leading nonprofit carbon offset provider, announced today that it is partnering with Hyundai Motor America to offset the emissions of all 2009 Hyundai Genesis cars sold in 2009. This innovative program will help to reforest and conserve 3,000 acres of tropical forest in Brazil, a country that has seen rapid deforestation over the last 50 years. The Hyundai Genesis Forest will provide the carbon offsets to the Genesis line as well as create local economic opportunities, improve the regional environment, and help preserve biodiversity. 

The Hyundai Genesis Forest Project will be located in Tocantins, Brazil, and is being designed to meet the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards. This project will serve as a model of sustainability for the surrounding region by balancing the needs of the local communities while helping to solve the global problem of climate change.  To learn more visit

In addition to supporting the Genesis Forest Project and offsetting the emission of all 2009 Genesis’s, Hyundai has also committed to: 
• Empower members of the Hyundai community to calculate and offset their personal carbon footprint, through a website to be managed by
• Financial support for the work of the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA), the international leader setting the accepted standards of land-based carbon offset projects with multi-faceted environmental and social benefits.
• Sponsor the Hyundai Climate Grants Program in conjunction with the CCBA to award three $35,000 grants to developers of similar projects creating new forestry projects that meet the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards.
