There’s a full year to go before the 2016 US Presidential Election, and things are heating up already. Irrespective of political views, we all make basic consumer purchasing decisions each day that can impact our environment.
OneBern is offering Bernie Sanders’ supporters a line of t-shirts made from 60% hemp and 40% organic cotton. The website provides a “hemp 101” list comparing hemp as a more environmentally safe product material to wood, cotton, plastic and petroleum-based products.
In addition, OneBern uses only water-based inks for its t-shirts and has partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon footprint from shipping products to consumers. For each t-shirt sold and shipped to its customers, OneBern makes a donation to Carbonfund.org that is used to purchase and retire third-party validated and verified carbon offsets in forestry projects around the world.
While OneBern is supporting its own political causes and candidate, it’s also offering high quality t-shirts focused on making the world a better, lower carbon and more sustainable place.
It all started with a ball of yarn. Jones & Vandermeer prints certain product tags and paper materials through a certified green printer, using 100% recycled paper and environmentally friendly soy-based inks. Products are wrapped in either 100% recycled tissue paper or reusable cotton bags, where possible.
