Plant A Tree For Me

Dell's Plant a Tree and Plant a Forest for Me programs make it easier to protect our Earth's climate by offering businesses and consumers the opportunity to offset the CO₂ emissions related to their use of many Dell products. One hundred percent of all customer donations support Dell's nonprofit partners, The Conservation Fund & Carbonfund.org, to plant millions of trees that will help trap carbon dioxide as they grow.

What it Covers

Dell offers simple offset solutions to a range of product types. Carbon footprint calculations are based on the emissions associated with the electricity use of these products for their average three-year lifetime. Dell products currently available under this program:

Donation amounts are based on expected average carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from the production of electricity needed to power the systems over three years, and the average number of trees that need to be planted in order to trap those emissions as they grow*. For example, use of a notebook corresponds to approximately 0.45 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, and for a desktop 1.26 metric tons. Thus, the offset donation required to neutralize the carbon impact for notebooks is $2 and $6 for desktops.
