    CarbonCo, LLC, a subsidiary of the Foundation, is excited to announce the Purus Project, a Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) forest conservation project, has officially become the first-ever REDD+ project in the State of Acre, Brazil to achieve dual-validation to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCBS) with Gold Distinction.  In addition,'s Russas, Valaparaiso and Envira Amazonia Projects, all in Acre, Brazil, also have achieved dual-validation to VCS and CCBS with Gold Distinction.  Together, these four rainforest preservation projects are protecting almost 750,000 acres of critical Amazon rainforest and sequestering millions of metric tonnes of carbon dioxide.

    The Envira Amazonia Project involves numerous local and international partners that will collectively protect nearly 500,000 acres in the Amazon Rainforest – the world’s largest rainforest - from slash-and-burn forest clearing and prevent millions of tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
