Vol[ts]wagen Contributes to Climate Change Solutions

volkswagenWe all know that we all have to do our part to solve climate change, and Volkswagen is no exception. VW has announced publicly it plans to launch its first all-electric car in 2013. Yes, 2013 is far away and many people want this option now. But if you are in the market for a new car today and you want better mileage and less greenhouse gas emissions, VW also offers an entire line of clean diesel vehicles that produces less CO2/mile than even some hybrids.

At Carbonfund.org, to reach carbon neutral today, we believe you have to reduce what you can and offset what you can’t. VW’s work to launch an electric car represents VW’s commitment as a leader to reduce what it can. They also have some experience offsetting emissions related to their cars – check out the Carbon Neutral Project we created together. Cars probably aren’t going away – so we have to find a way to fold them into a more sustainable way of life. Reducing their direct greenhouse gas emissions levels to a fraction of a car’s current level is definitely a start.
