Maryland's leader in environmental education and school certification is leading by example. The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education, living by Carbonfund.org’s motto to “Reduce What You Can, Offset What You Can’t” has cut its annual conference’s carbon footprint by a third and is offsetting that footprint. By encouraging carpooling and moving the conference to a closer location, MAEOE has significantly cut down on fuel use in traveling to the event.
The 2010 conference, also MAEOE’s 25th anniversary, will highlight the progress MAEOE has made over the past 25 years. MAEOE provides educators in the state of Maryland with valuable environmental education skills. Through workshops, training programs, awards programs, publications and materials, MAEOE is also helping lead the state to a greener, cleaner tomorrow.
Further, with MAEOE’s school certification program, schools around the state are becoming local environmental leaders by cutting back on their eco-footprints. For more information on how to get trained as an environmental educator or obtain green school certification, please visit their site at www.maeoe.org.
