Just after Earth Day, on Saturday, April 30, EscapeMaker.com will be holding the first-of-its kind Green Getaways, Local Food & Travel Expo in Brooklyn, NY. The eco-friendly event’s mission is to encourage greener travel to local destinations within a few hours of New York City – whether by Amtrak, Long Island Railroad, Metro-North or car-sharing with Zipcar. To encourage “Agri-tourism” and buying local, the Expo will feature over 25 regional farms, food exhibitors and wineries offering samples of farm-fresh foods, wines, local delicacies and regional products including Vermont cheese, maple syrup, honey, goats milk caramel, artisan chocolates, jams and preserves, and Hudson Valley Wine. Plus, the Expo includes a full schedule of live music, sustainability workshops, kids’ activities and over 50 great getaway door prizes!
