Google Helps Households Reduce What They Can
Google announced yesterday that they have partnered with eight utilities in the United States, Canada and India to provide individuals with detailed information about their home electricity consumption. Google’s PowerMeter is a software tool that enables households to track and monitor their energy consumption from their computers and is intended to help customers reduce energy use and cut electricity bills.
The PowerMeter will give the consumer information down to the appliance level about the energy they use and supply them with information about how they can be more efficient. Google’s goal is to “enable a future where access to personal electricity information helps everyone make smarter energy choices.”
If you live in Florida, California, Texas, Michigan or Missouri click here to find out if your utility provider is offering the technology. If not, just hold tight, Google hopes to expand the distribution of the PowerMeter later this year. To learn more visit: http://www.google.org/powermeter/
