EPA & Carbonfund.org Celebrate Sustainability

logo epaseal EPA & Carbonfund.org Celebrate SustainabilityThis weekend, Carbonfund.org was privileged to be one of 30 nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations to attend the EPA’s Sustainable Design Expo on the National Mall. The EPA asked Carbonfund.org to join the Design Expo because we are a local, environmental nonprofit that focuses on promoting sustainable practices through our mission to Reduce what you can, Offset what you can’t™. The event’s focus was on colleges and universities across the country who are making sustainability a reality.

It was immensely impressive to see the students’ work!  Students were competing for the best sustainable design project and the winner will receive a grant to promote their project and make a real world difference.

As I was able to talk with some of the students that came by our booth, I learned about sustainable fuels made of hydrogen and biogas. I even saw a model biogas generator which runs off of waste and could be implemented on a large scale level.  Talk about sustainable!   Many students also focused on small scale solar projects for the developing world and a more consumer based market, making solar a natural part of our lives.

Thanks to everyone who came out!  We loved meeting the students, organizers, businesses and you! -Jen
