Hyundai & Carbonfund.org Announce Climate Grant Winners
When Hyundai Motor America (HMA) and Carbonfund.org called on forest carbon offset related project developers to apply for a $35,000 climate grant, the response was great. After an extensive screening of applications from all over the world, the following three stood out:
* The Alto Mayo Forest Carbon Project, Peru
* The Nhambita Community Carbon Project, Mozambique
* Kakamega Forest Again Project, Kenya
Each project has been awarded $35,000, which can help the projects meet the rigorous requirements of the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards. CCB Standards thoroughly examine a project’s impact and benefits on surrounding communities and biodiversity.

The grant will support these high quality, multiple-benefit forest carbon projects with up-front expenses such as for project design and mapping or studies.
Hyundai has been an active leader in forest offsetting since we partnered to offset the emissions of all 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedans sold this year. This joint project, named the Genesis Forest Project, will support reforestation and conservation of more than 3,000 acres of tropical forest & offset more than 93,000 metric tons of CO2.
